BURUNDI - ENVIRONMENT/FAMINE:  GOVERNMENT NKURUNZIZA A JUST LAUNCHED A PUBLIC AWARENESS CAMPAIGN AND DISTRIBUTION OF FOOD IN FIVE SINISTER PROVINCES.

In Burundi, last April, thanks to satisfactory precipitations, FAO had brought back a light improvement to the level of food safety.  Thereafter, harvests of June and July helped enormously. But the effort continues…

“To nourish its family” remains one of the great priorities of the Burundian parents.  Malnutrition is present at a great part of the young children.

Mobilized on this question, all government NKURUNZIZA, supported by WFP and FAO, comes to launch a distribution campaign of the assistances collected for the populations disaster victims by the famine and the torrential rains.

With gifts of seeds, rations of seed protection, and articles of food to the five most affected provinces, and a sensitizing of the local populations…
